Centraal Beheer Marathon (SOLD OUT!!)

On the way to perhaps the most beautiful marathon in the Netherlands!

A marathon with 900 meters ‘off road’ over the sand drift of the Kootwijkerzand. It will therefore not be a top time on the 42 km, but we do promise you the most beautiful marathon route in the Netherlands through the Natura 2000 area. The start and finish of the marathon is at AV’34 in the Orderbos. The route also passes through the Apenheul, the Kruisjesdal, Halte Assel, the Kootwijkerzand, the Cathedral at Radio Kootwijk, the Asselse hei and the Orderbos. You pass the A1 highway and the railway, but we go through tunnels here. View the full route via the Route Map tab.

You can register from October 14 at 8 p.m. That is only possible online. Registration closes on Sunday, January 5 at 11:59 PM. Registration closes (earlier) if the limit of 500 participants has been reached. So register quickly!

Register

Please note: registration closes once the number of 500 participants has been reached. This is expected to be achieved within a few days. No late registration is possible!

The registration fee is € 42. For this you will be offered a complete package with two coffee or tea with something tasty and afterwards pea soup, rye bread and bacon or a vegetarian soup with vegetarian bread. And of course a beautiful medal at the finish!

Route map, elevation profile and terrain

The course consists of one large circuit southwest of Apeldoorn, it is largely a Natura 2000 area. Below you can see the route.

The route is approximately 50% on wide paved gravel paths or asphalted (cycling) paths and 40% on wide semi-paved forest paths. The remainder consists of 900 meters of (heavy) loose sand near the sand drifts and narrower paths (partly sand, partly grass). N.B. The asphalt surface is not nice and flat for several hundred meters.

N.B. If you want to explore the route in advance, keep in mind that the route partly goes through the Kroondomein Het Loo, which is not accessible in the period from September 15 to December 25. In addition, at Kootwijk it passes through a closed area and a private road (forbidden access). We only received permission from the owners for this on the day itself.

Parking, reception and changing room

If you come by car, you can park on Sportlaan and in 2 adjacent parking lots. From the A1 highway, exit 19, follow the yellow signs ‘Transferium West’ or set the navigation to Frankenlaan 70, 7312 TG Apeldoorn. Traffic controllers supervise parking there.

Runners are welcomed with coffee/tea and something tasty in the AV’34 clubhouse in the Orderbos. Then you can change and leave your bag there. Only runners with a starting ticket are allowed in the changing rooms. There is no monitored cloakroom. There are showers in the changing rooms.

Immediately after the finish there will be sports drinks, water and bananas waiting for you. In the clubhouse you get pea soup, rye bread and bacon or a vegetarian soup with vegetarian bread.

Refreshment stations, first aid and care

There are 5 refreshment stations along the route with water, broth, sports drinks, tea, cake and fruit.

Red Cross first aiders are present at the start and finish at AV’34 and at all refreshment stations. In addition, two pairs of mobile first aiders on mountain bikes will cycle along with the field of participants. Participants who are no longer able to continue their route will be returned to the start/finish by car.

Afterwards, sports masseurs will be present at AV’34. They can massage your legs in a professional manner.

Time limit and results

The time limit for the marathon is 5:30! For safety and health reasons, it is important that everyone adheres to this, also in view of the falling darkness. The finish closes at 4:00 PM. A sweeper truck is stationed at 34.5 km. If you arrive at this point after 2:50 p.m., we urgently request that you get out and take a seat in the sweeper vehicle. You will then be returned to AV’34.

Time registration takes place using a chip in the starting number. The starting number will be sent by post. The (gross) results will be published on our website afterwards.

Navigate the route

The route is signposted. In addition, traffic controllers and runners will guide you safely when crossing public roads and at other special points.

You will receive a newsletter by email in the week before the event as well as the route in GPX format. You can download this GPX file and transfer it to your navigation watch or app.

Medal, prizes

Every participant who completes the marathon receives a medal. Because it is not a competition, there are no prizes for the first runners to finish.

After magazine

In the week after the “Midwinter weekend” you will receive an after magazine with photos and videos of the Centraal Beheer Marathon and the other distances. You can then enjoy it again.
